On Thursday 13/10/05, My hubby called. He asked me to jot down something, tulis nih...aku pun amik pensil, the he spelt out A.R.A.C.H.N.O.I.D.C.Y.S.T...then he said...carik dlm internet ape kebende menatang nih......Aku tanya, kenapa and cyst tuh bukan ke ketumbuhan..then he said, i don't want to tell you yet, but read about it first...
Aku pun dengan segera masuk internet, search for that word..baca punya baca, carik sana, carik sini, jumpa le serba sedikit about Arachnoid Cyst nih...
What are Arachnoid Cysts?Arachnoid cysts are cerebrospinal fluid-filled sacs that may develop between the surface of the brain and the cranial base or on the arachnoid membrane - one of the 3 membranes that cover the brain and the spinal cord. Most cases begin during infancy, however onset may be delayed until adolescence. Symptoms of an arachnoid cyst are related to the cyst size and location. Small cysts are usually asymptomatic and are discovered only incidentally. Large cysts may cause cranial deformation or macrocephaly (enlargement of the head), producing such symptoms as headaches, seizures, hydrocephalus (excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid), increased intracranial pressure, developmental delay, and behavioral changes. Other symptoms may include hemiparesis (weakness or paralysis on one side of the body) and ataxia (lack of muscle control). Arachnoid cysts most often occur in males.
Is there any treatment?
Treatment for arachnoid cysts is symptomatic. When symptoms warrant, the surgical placement of a shunt may be required to decompress (remove pressure from) the cyst.
What is the prognosis?
Untreated, arachnoid cysts may cause permanent severe neurological damage due to the progressive expansion of the cyst(s)or hemorrhage (bleeding). With treatment most individuals with arachnoid cysts do well.

Dia dah tgk Amani nye MRI report, kat report tu kata they discovered Arachnoid Cyst located at her left side of the brain sebesar 3 x 3 cm. Besar tuh...Nak tahu detail, kena jumpa Amani nye Dr specialist le..
Amani ada Arachnoid cyst ? Senang cite...Amani ada ketumbuhan? Macam nak pitam pun ade..Meraung aku...mcm2 aku terbayang masa nih...
Then on 18/10/2005, tibalah masa appoinment Amani dengan Prof Ong again. Prof Ong pun explained in detail about Arachnoid Cyst nih..kitaorg pun tanya mcm2..yelah dah tau skit-skit kan.
By this time, Amani dah sebulan on medication, Prednisolone..Prof Ong tanya, Amani ade tak kena sawan lagi during medication nih. So far memang amani tak de sawan since start makan ubat nih...So Prof Ong requested Amani to buat EEG lagi skali. Ari tu memula masa dia kena tahan kat hospital. Result EEG masa tuh mmg confirm Amani ade sawan/fits. So Prof Ong nak compare the resultlah. Kiranya, sebelum and selepas makan ubat le...
Actually, 18/10/2005 is my birthday...nak celebrate my bithday pun tak de mood. Anak lagi penting masa tuh...I just pray and pray...
Tetiba teringat, Wak yg berubat Amani cara tradisional tuh..Kan dia kata, Amani ada mcm selaput/ketumbuhan kat sebelah otak kiri...antara percaya atau tak...aku hanya berdoa....
